Grunnel's Hexed Fruitcake - 2024 (Gold) - C3
Note: This is a Consignment Token (hence the C3), which means a True Dungeon adventurer is selling it through Trent Tokens. But as with all Trent Tokens products, once you've made your purchase, you'll receive a tracking number and your token will be promptly mailed to you!
For one game only, adds +2 to max HP after you give this token to an unsuspecting player–not an unsuspecting character.
This token is unique in that you only gain its effect when you give it away. Furthermore, the player you give it to cannot be aware you’re giving it to them. There is no limit to the number of times* this token can be passed along, but to enjoy its effect, all of the following must be true:
- The new owner must not be aware they have received this token.
- The person giving the token away must have never benefited from this specific token previously.
- No other person can be affected by this specific token’s effect, whether or not they are in the same party. For example:
- For more than one person in the party to gain the fruitcake effect, there must be more than one fruitcake in the party.
- Even if stealthily given to more than one person, no two people can simultaneously benefit from any specific copy of Grunnel’s Hexed Fruitcake token–whether or not those players are in the same party. E.g., let’s say there are only 10 copies of this token in existence. Copy 1 is secretly given by Player A to Player B. Player A gains the fruitcake effect. Player B cannot gain the fruitcake effect until the end of the adventure in which Player A benefited from the fruitcake effect. This applies even if Players A and B are in different parties. However, if Player C secretly gave Player D Copy 2 of Grunnel’s Hexed Fruitcake, Player C would gain the fruitcake effect because they secretly passed a different copy of the token.
The change in ownership is permanent. Once you gain this token’s effect, you are forevermore unable to benefit from any copy of a Grunnel’s Hexed Fruitcake token. By successfully using this token’s effect, you are giving–not loaning–this token to another player. The new owner is free to keep this token, but they also cannot benefit from its effect until they surreptitiously pass it on to another player. It’s permissible to sell this token, but since the buyer is aware they’re receiving the token, the seller does not gain the fruitcake’s effect.
*On December 25, 2025 at 12:01 am Central Standard Time, this token no longer functions in-game, but it can still be used as a transmuted ingredient or as six points toward a Darkwood Plank. All fruitcakes–even ones that are magically enhanced–eventually crumble to dust. And the world is a better place because of that.
